Receptionist / Administrative Assistant

We are seeking to appoint a Receptionist and Administrative Assistant the Reception Team at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics, Nuffield Department of Medicine.

Acting as a friendly and helpful first point of contact for the Centre, you will deal with enquiries and requests from visitors and staff and have responsibility for elements of the-day-to-day functioning of the building e.g. access control, CCTV monitoring, critical alarms and health & safety monitoring. You will be responsible for monitoring and responding to reception e-mails, phone calls and deal with room booking requests. You will ensure the reception area, notice boards, meeting rooms, restaurant and all other public areas of the building are maintained.

It is essential that you are educated to GCSE level or equivalent (with grade C/4 or above in English and Maths). You will be friendly and have a professional manner, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people. It is essential you have a high level of personal discretion, tact, and judgment, especially when dealing with sensitive and confidential material. Good organisational skills with an ability to prioritise and excellent standards of accuracy and attention to detail are required. You will be flexible and adaptable to work including working independently and as part of a team.
