Purpose

The Real Estate Development Analyst is responsible for contributing to the development of university off-campus real estate plans, creating financial models supporting the plans, designing and maintaining management information systems, and leading the approval, contracting, implementation, and execution of department plans.  The Real Estate Development Analyst will work under the supervision of the Executive Direction for Real Estate Finance and Asset Management and will collaborate with other campus units on real estate acquisitions and developments, long term asset management, and financial matters.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute the University’s vision for the development of off-campus real estate to optimize mission impact and revenue generation

  • Build and maintain development project master database and maintain the University’s project mapping system (currently in Google Earth)

  • Conducts financial analysis of acquisition and development opportunities, including the creation of detailed pro-forma, financial models and project plans

  • Gather, compile, investigate, and analyze market data to identify potential development opportunities, and prepare narrative development memoranda, detailed reports, and market summaries that provide insights on proposed acquisitions

  • Coordinate real estate acquisition and development activities, including feasibility studies, environmental impact reviews, title reviews, land use restrictions, tax issues, and related reviews

  • Manage the timely execution of projects from initiation through completion

  • Collaborate with private sector development partners and service contractors

  • Coordinate with relevant campus units for the completion of key projects and ongoing asset management functions

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

  • At least 5 years of experience in real estate development, real estate acquisitions, real estate finance, or other relevant real estate practice.

  • Highly proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint (experience with Argus is a plus).

  • Demonstrated ability to create and analyze financial models, project plans and budgets.

  • Creative problem solving skills.

  • Strong work ethic and professional integrity.

  • Commitment to the University’s mission and values.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diverse real estate development experience preferred.

  • Development experience with mixed use, commercial, multi-family, student housing, medical, and/or research is a plus.

  • MBA or Master’s in Real Estate Development from a competitive program.

Working Conditions

May work around standard office conditions and active construction sites; repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation whether onsite or remotely; use of manual dexterity; climbing of stairs; lifting and moving items; extended hours including weekends as necessary; and some travel. A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.
