Duties and Responsibilities

The overall objective of the assignment is to creatively design, develop the layout and provide the final, designed versions of the 2025 UN Country Results Report for Bahrain (UNCRR) in English and Arabic in PDF for web and print and editable source files. The layout and design shall be developed in such a way as to make the document easy to read and understand by the external audience. The designed version of the document shall be as much as possible self-explanatory through different creative methods, including infographics, icons, and other design elements. Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Director of UNIC Manama, the Consultant will undertake the following tasks: UN Country Results Report for Bahrain 2025 (1) Provide a final design template (layout and graphic design mockup) for the 2025 UN Country Results Report for Bahrain (UNCRR), English and Arabic versions, with design elements including the cover page, end page, headings and subheadings, thematic theme, etc. approved by Bahrain RCO. (2) Provide the designed English version of the UNCRR based on the approved design template and using the Bahrain RCO provided content. (3) Ensure that the design elements are properly aligned, make any final adjustments as required, and provide the final designed English version of the UNCRR both in PDF and in an editable format. (4) In consultation with Bahrain RCO on Arabic fonts, update all the graphical elements of the UNCRR with the Arabic translation, which will be provided by the Bahrain RCO, make any necessary adjustments to the design elements to ensure that they are properly aligned to the content in Arabic, and provide the designed Arabic version of the UNCRR. (5) Ensure that the design elements are properly aligned, make any final adjustments as required, and provide the final designed Arabic version of the UNCRR both in PDF and in an editable format.

Qualifications/special skills

A Bachelor”s degree in design or visual communications or a related field is required. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed A minimum of three years of experience in graphic design or visual communications or a related field is required. Previous experience with designing similar reports is required. Previous experience working with UN entities and understanding of their communication requirements is desirable. No conflict of interest such as recent or expected employment by UNCT members or implementing partners, private relationships with any UNCT members of staff or government counterparts or implementing partners; participation in the design, implementation or advising CRR being evaluated, among others).

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; For this position, fluency in English and Arabic language is required. Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
