Position Summary:
Audubon Center for Birds of Prey, located in Maitland, FL, is dedicated to promoting a stewardship ethic toward Florida’s birds of prey and their habitats through medical rehabilitation, interactive education, and practical research. Audubon Center for Birds of Prey is offering an internship opportunity designed to provide an individual with a demonstrated interest in wildlife rehabilitation and clinical care with the ability to learn the operations of the Raptor Trauma Clinic and rehabilitation programs. In addition, this
individual will learn the aspects of animal husbandry related to raptors in a captive setting, raptor conservation, and Center operations.
The Senior Coordinator, Raptor Conservation and the Raptor Conservation Manager at Audubon Center for Birds of Prey will provide support and supervision to the Raptor Trauma Clinic intern.
This position is part time on-site at Audubon Center for Birds of Prey, Maitland, FL. Housing is not provided.
Length of Internship September 1-December 31, 2026 (18 weeks).

Hours: 24/wk
Schedule: The internship is being offered three full days a week for four months, totaling 400+ hours.

Essential Functions
Intern Responsibilities and Learning Objectives
Participate in clinical operations and procedures, including taxonomy, anatomy, feather structure, imping (feather repair), tail sheathing (protection), necropsy, pesticide poisoning, calculating medications, and fluid therapy relates related to raptors.
Learn and participate in daily examinations, treatments, and administering medications to sick and injured raptors.
Prepare food for clinic patients.
Clean and maintain raptor housing.
Prepare slides for laboratory examination and analysis.
Attend and observe surgical procedures and participate in diagnostic testing, radiology and bird evaluations.
Share your experiences with others through e-newsletters, social media, etc.
The internship is being offered three full days a week for four months, totaling 400+ hours.
Qualifications and Experience:
High School Diploma
Current student or recent graduate (within 3 years) background in animal science, biology, or pre-veterinary coursework is preferred.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated willingness to learn and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
Prior experience with handling wildlife or animal medicine is highly desirable.
