This role offers the opportunity to work in the vibrant research community of the Institute of Health & Neurodevelopment (IHN). IHN is putting children at the heart of research. Prioritising the care of children and their families requires a healthy workforce in the health and care settings they interact with when living with acute or chronic conditions. The SWell Collaborative Project focuses on the wellbeing of healthcare staff working in Paediatric Critical Care. At last, the pressures that Paediatric Critical Care are under have been widely recognised, which gives us an opportunity to work through ways in which we might first improve staff wellbeing, which will enable us, second, to develop a resilient workforce to ensure the best possible quality of care for children.

The SWell Collaborative Project is a partnership between Aston University and NHS Innovation. It has an interdisciplinary involving psychology, nursing and medicine. It offers the opportunity to work on a process evaluation of the feasibility of implementing staff wellbeing interventions in the high-pressure environment of Paediatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs).

The role involves the day-to-day management of the research activities that form part of the SWell Collaborative Project. This will include travelling to PICUs across the country to establish productive working relationships, generating and administering online questionnaires, conducting online/face-to-face interviews, analysing qualitative and quantitative data, writing up publications for academic, clinical, and public audiences, as well as attending and supporting facilitation of events throughout the project.

A PhD in psychology, health or social science discipline is required (or equivalent experience). In particular we require experience of conducting research up to doctoral level, writing for publication, clear communication skills, and IT competence. Candidates with experience of working with clinical populations, especially staff, and with experience of implementing healthcare interventions will be welcomed.
