The University of Maine Counseling Center seeks to hire a Psychologist or Social Worker. The primary responsibilities of this position are to: provide counseling and social work or psychological services to the students of the University; consultation to faculty, staff and parents regarding students in distress; development and delivery of outreach educational programs for the university community; and training and supervision of masters and doctoral interns. Typical hiring range for this 11.5 month position is $54,000 to $65,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Psychologist:
Required:
- Applicants must hold a doctoral degree from an APA approved program in Counseling or Clinical Psychology and have completed an APA accredited internship program by date of hire.
- Three years of experience beyond licensure practicing as a psychologist.
- Applicants must be licensed or eligible to pursue a license in the State of Maine as a Psychologist.
- Licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Maine will be expected within 12 months of hire.
- Experience delivering psychological or counseling services in a college counseling center or similar setting and have demonstrated skill and ability in the delivery of effective outreach and educational programs.
- Demonstrated dedication, sensitivity and competence in understanding working with a diverse population.
- Demonstrated history of effective collaboration as a member of a team of professionals and must show interest and the ability to be cooperative in working with other Counseling Center staff to provide a balance of skills as needed by the Center at any particular time.
- Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills and highly ethical professional functioning.
Social Worker:
Required:
- Typically has the education associated with a Master’s degree in Social Work and three years of clinical social work experience beyond licensure.
- Applicants must be licensed or eligible to pursue a license in the State of Maine Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
- Successful candidates must have experience delivering social work and counseling services in a college counseling center or similar setting and have demonstrated skill and ability in the delivery of effective outreach and educational programs.
- Demonstrated dedication, sensitivity and competence in understanding working with a diverse population.
- Demonstrated history of effective collaboration as a member of a team of professionals and must show interest and the ability to be cooperative in working with other Counseling Center staff to provide a balance of skills as needed by the Center at any particular time.
- Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills.
- Ethical professional functioning is essential: each Clinical Social Worker is expected to abide by the National Association of Social Worker (NASW) Code of Conduct, as well as all University employee policies.
