Job Title: PSL446/1446 – Sessional Lecturer

The Department of Physiology is recruiting a sessional lecturer to teach in/coordinate PSL446H (approximately 20% of the teaching load for the course). Course number and title: PSL446/1446H – Neural Disorders/Molecular and Cellular Aspects of Neural Disorders

Course description: PSL446/1446H is an undergraduate and graduate course that allows students to explore topics in neurological disorders and treatments to reinforce and expand their knowledge of cellular and molecular neurophysiology. Course material is updated yearly to reflect the rapid evolution of ideas in this area.

Estimated course enrolment: 40 undergraduates and approx. 8 graduate students

support: 1 TA

Class schedule: During the scheduled Arts and Science fall term, with lectures Tuesdays from 5 to 8 pm.

Sessional dates of appointment: January to April 2025

Salary: $1,891.79 (inclusive of vacation pay) for course coordination and 2 lecture hours

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum qualifications: PhD in physiology.

Preferred qualifications: Lecturing experience at the university level would be an asset.

Description of duties:

All normal duties related to the design, teaching and coordination of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content (3 hours of lectures), office hours (2 hours), recruiting faculty lecturers, posting course content/grades to course websites, preparation and administration of tests and exams, supervising the course TA, calculating and submitting final marks and other duties as required.
