Project Officer – Rural Student Support 

  • Full time fixed term position until December 2024

UTAS is funded by the Commonwealth Government through the Rural Health Multi-Disciplinary Training Program (RHMT) to support health students to undertake professional experience placements (PEP) in rural and remote areas of Tasmania. As a health workforce program, the RHMT aims to improve the recruitment and retention of health professionals in rural communities.

The Opportunity

Working collaboratively with the PEP teams and RHMT student accommodation staff across the College of Health and Medicine, this role is responsible for the management of rural placement accommodation and student support across the state.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Promote and support rural/remote placements for health students across Tasmania.
  • Liaise with PEP teams within the College of Health and Medicine to ensure student bookings and rural accommodation needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure the quality, amenity, safety and security of accommodation is maintained to an acceptable standard.
  • Maintain positive relationships and act as first point of contact across the RHMT program for local and interstate university students on rural placement.­

Your Application

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;

  • Completion of a Degree or Diploma in a relevant area, and/or extensive relevant experience in a project officer or similar role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to apply a systems thinking approach to problem solving coupled with high level skills in working with computer based systems and databases.
  • High level organisational, administrative and time-management skills.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $107,061 comprising base salary within the range of $84,386 to $91,505 plus 17% superannuation.
