Project Officer: Researcher Development (HEO 5)

  • Open to Australian Aboriginal Peoples and UniSA employees only
  • Full-time, fixed term contract until 24 January 2024 based in Research and Innovation Services at the Mawson Lakes campus
  • Commencement Salary: $73,341 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role

This position provides high level
project, administrative and event support for the Researcher
Development project and training functions as part of the Graduate
Research Development team within Research and Innovation Services.

The position will initially be based at
the Mawson Lakes campus and will then relocate to the City West campus
in January 2023.

Services (RIS)

Research and Innovation Services (RIS) supports the
Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research and Enterprise to realise strategic
and operational initiatives. This is achieved by positioning UniSA to
be responsive to the changing local, national and international
environment and the delivery of high quality, effective support
services to researchers and decision makers.

Areas of research service activity span
research grant development, negotiation and management of research
contracts, post award administration and management of research
infrastructure, research integrity, research ethics and compliance and
implementing strategic initiatives to improve the quality of
researcher training and development to support capacity and capability
development in research. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the successful
    implementation of the Researcher Development project through
    coordination of researcher training and development activities and
    events. This includes:
    • Meticulous planning, promotion
      and execution of training and events;
    • Coordinating event logistics,
      including  budget management;
    • Developing effective stakeholder
      communication frameworks;
    • Developing effective working
      relationships with relevant stakeholders to support engagement
      in  the project;
    • Drafting tailored presentations
      and other communications (i.e. newsletters, web content) for
      various audiences; and
    • Undertaking detailed analysis of
      Researcher Development activities and providing periodic and
      ad-hoc reports and insights to key stakeholders
  • Under the broad direction of the
    Chair and Senior Project Manager, Researcher Development, provide
    executive support to the RDAG. This includes;
    • Effective coordination of the
      RDAG meetings, including recording, tracking and communicating
      follow-up actions from the meetings;
    • Triaging and drafting high level
      responses to the academic community and to external
      stakeholders on behalf of the RDAG;
    • Establishing and maintaining an
      effective record management framework for the project
  • Contribute to the establishment of
    guidelines, templates and processes for the effective delivery of
    programs within the Researcher Development framework
  • Coordinate and support the
    successful implementation of the Visiting Research Fellow Program

Essential Skills and Experience 

  • Previous experience providing
    project and high-level administrative support within a complex organisation
  • Demonstrated experience in
    conceptualising, meticulously planning and successfully delivering
    training programs or promotion events involving a range of
    participants and stakeholders
  • High level of attention to detail,
    and an ability to work through large volume of data to provide
    succinct summary and tailored insights to various audience
  • High level interpersonal skills and
    demonstrated ability to build strong and productive relationships
    with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated organisational and time
    management skills to manage multiple priorities under broad direction
