Project Manager with CAD expertise (Built Environment)

As the post-holder you will lead client-side project management and coordinate responsibilities for built environment capital projects.  This will include new build or refurbishment projects at all stages of work, complemented with services associated with the post holders professional qualifications/experience (e.g., Architecture, Architectural Technology, Quantity surveying, Building Surveying, Engineering). Responsibility will be for projects and programmes ranging in the order of (but not limited to) £50k to £14m budget.

Pivotal to the team, you will work collaboratively to identify design solutions using your knowledge of building construction and your creative flare.  Working on your own projects and providing design support the wider team, you will be able to develop early feasibility, CAD drawings and conceptual ideas to support and test ideas before a design team is appointed.  By testing and developing conceptual ideas across a wide range of projects you will support the implementation of the University’s Strategic Plan for its built estate and identify business change required to facilitate it.

We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager with strong design and CAD skills to join our successful and highly agile Programme Management Office.  Working as part of a small team of Construction Project Managers, you will support the delivery of the University’s Strategic Plan through refurbishment and repurposing building projects and business change. 

You will need to be an agile problem solver, have good interpersonal skills and a passion for design.  Able to undertake feasibility options and support the team by producing CAD drawings, your flare for design will test ideas at the early concept stage.  You will develop concepts and progress them through Business Case and Budget approval before recruiting and managing a design team to realise the project. 

You will have experience of leading staff consultation through the project from inception to post occupancy and be required to report through Project Governance to ensure projects are managed to time, budget and quality.
