Job Description:

Work with the Lead Project Manager and Project Director to maintain the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to ensure efficient and effective completion of the project’s goals and objectives. Revise and update plans as needed in consultation with project leadership. Collaborate with the Lead Project Manager to organize and manage the project’s tasks to balance allocation of resources and to resolve issues related to project scope, time, and resources.

Collaborate with the Lead Project Manager to gather information, progress reports, and statistics as needed to prepare interim and annual reports for the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and others as requested. Oversee and maintain tracking of iDigBio events, contributors, and demographics. Monitor iDigBio’s website and portal usage statistics using Google Analytics and similar tools.

Using such tools such as Google Scholar, jStor, Zenodo, etc., as well as internet-based searches, track and maintain a catalog of research uses and mentions of iDigBio data, its collaborators, and contributors in publications, webinar presentations, seminars, workshops, and conference appearances. Oversee and maintain tracking of publications and presentations produced by iDigBio personnel.

Function as senior editor and maintainer for content on iDigBio’s website, wiki, and other web resources. Tasks include content editing, tag maintenance, hyperlink maintenance, calendar maintenance, ticket maintenance, listserv maintenance, etc. Collaborate with the Project Manager in the overall management and administration of iDigBio’s digital resources.

Function as senior editor for iDigBio’s newsletter, social media, web content, and print content to ensure balance that reflects the totality of iDigBio’s activities and operations across all domains. Supervise the development and production of program communication and marketing content and materials. Provide leadership for the iDigBio team to develop and manage a comprehensive digital communication plan that includes social media, the iDigBio website and wiki, and the project’s collaborators and contributors.
Collaborate with the Lead Project Manager, Project Director, and Project Assistant to plan, organize, and document meetings of iDigBio’s committees, teams, and review boards. Facilitate remote participation, including providing technical support. Document action items, create issue tickets, and distribute as appropriate.

Provide expertise and guidance to the biodiversity community in the areas of leadership, management, and project execution, including collaborating with the Project Director and Lead Project Manager to conduct webinars, courses, discussion groups, etc. on issues related to these topical areas. Collaborate with and guide iDigBio staff in the conduct of workshops and other community involvement activities.

Perform other administrative and management tasks as requested by the project leadership team.

Expected Salary:

$68,000.00, negotiable with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in museum studies or administration or other appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Formal training and/or experience in project management necessary to organize and manage resources for the successful completion of project goals and objectives. This may include a university degree in project management, a business degree (or related field) with project management emphasis, training in project management, and/or certification in project management. Relevant experience with one or more large projects is highly desirable.

Have the ability to organize and communicate effectively with a diverse clientele, including scientists, IT experts, and users of biodiversity collections information.

Familiarity with information technology projects and use of biodiversity collections in research and education is desirable.
