Overview

About the Role

The Project Manager reports to the Senior Project Manager within the Change Delivery team of IT Services department. Primary responsibility of Project Manager is delivery of projects from IT Enabling Plan which supports Queen Mary University of London Strategy 2030.

As part of the Change Delivery Team, this role is responsible for effective stakeholder management and customer centric delivery through proactive management of risks and issues.

About You

You will support and shape change delivery projects (enabled by IT) for a Faculty or function. However due to the highly inter-connected QM operating model you will be expected to develop a good knowledge of QM student and staff operating model, key systems and processes underpinning operational integrity.

You will have the ability to see the big picture and think strategically, analyse challenges and IT delivery options and be able to translate them into actionable deliverables (be it project outcome or BAU resolutions) and drive them to completion.

You can think commercially and strategically – quickly assess and quantify short- and long-term impact of changes, deal with ambiguity and uncertainty and be able to evaluate options to meet business expectations and provide maximum value. You will be required to assist and guide change agents and IT Managers to co-ordinate their own departments for an optimal implementation.

About the Department

IT Services is a key enabler to the successful fulfilment of Queen Mary’s strategic goals of excellence in research, and teaching and learning. Our services support students and colleagues and range from email and internet access, to state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, business application software and high-performance computing in support of research.

Benefits

We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities including an on-site nursery at the Mile End campus.

The role will be based at Department W, Whitechapel, London. It is a full time, permanent appointment, with an immediate start date. The starting salary will be Grade 6, in the range of £49,476- £55,234 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.

We particularly welcome applications from people who identify as Women, Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic groups as these groups are underrepresented at this level at Queen Mary.

Queen Mary’s commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability. We are open to considering applications from candidates wishing to work flexibly.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Sarah Lai: s.lai@qmul.ac.uk
