Project Coordinator – Nephrology

Position Summary

The Center for Precision Medicine and Genomics (CPMG) at Columbia University Medical Center in New York, NY (http://columbiamedicine.org/cpmg/) seeks a dynamic, energetic Project Coordinator to support the planning, development and implementation of an NIH-funded study that investigates ethical, legal and social issues (ELSI) relating to the inclusion of adults with intellectual disabilities in precision medicine research and develops a protocol-adaptable consent toolkit to assist precision medicine researchers in including adults with intellectual disability. This study is a collaboration between Columbia and Syracuse Universities. The ideal candidate has prior experience in mixed-methods research and interest in disability studies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct academic literature review relevant for the study.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative data collection and analyses.
  • Assist with development of consent toolkit.
  • Plan, observe and/or facilitate online focus groups with diverse populations
  • Conduct interviews, perform data collection and code survey responses.
  • Assist with data analyses, data management, and manuscript preparation.
  • Plan and coordinate multi-stakeholder meetings.
  • Communicate and coordinate work with researchers, collaborators and Project Manager.
  • Perform additional related duties as needed or assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, training and experience, plus two years of related experience
  • Demonstrated interest in ethics and/or disability studies
  • Outstanding written and oral communication and presentation skills, including effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work well independently and complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to ensure the completion of essential tasks by deadlines
  • Comfortable with research technologies and online platforms for research
  • Ability to give close attention to detail and learn new skills (e.g., disability accessibility)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in public health, social sciences, or other related field
  • Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative data collection and analyses
  • Familiarity with disability studies and/or ELSI research
  • Applicants with lived experience of disability are encouraged to apply

Other Requirements

  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
