Department Summary Consisting of 14 full-time and 15 affiliated faculty, HBHS is one of two departments in the UNTHSC School of Public Health. The goal of the HBHS department is to help communities and health systems improve policy, management, and public health practice. Graduates of our MPH, MHA, MS and PhD programs assume positions in healthcare, business, human services, research, and academic settings. Our faculty are widely recognized for their innovative teaching and impactful research. Their work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control, National Science Foundation, and many other national, state and local agencies. Faculty are widely published in the areas of patient safety, disease control, health disparities and underserved populations, women’s and children’s health, participatory research, substance abuse prevention, and online/m-health interventions. HBHS faculty have received national and international awards for their work bridging teaching, research and practice. Position Overview The person in this position will provide research support and work closely with Dr. Kline and his team of investigators in the implementation of an NIH CEAL funded study related to COVID
19 vaccination among Latinx populations. Tasks include assisting with: team meetings; participant mail, email, and phone communications; participant recruitment and tracking; human
subjects applications and modifications; participant payments; adherence to study protocols, preparation of timely status reports and updates for the investigators; liaising with graduate
students and lab volunteers; perform related duties as required. The coordinator will assist in dissemination of research findings through assistance with manuscript preparation and
organizing community forums in partnership with community organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Good communication skills (professionalism, empathy, interviewing)
  • Well organized and attention to details
  • Be self-motivated, flexible/adaptable, and can work independently
  • Able to multi-task and manage multiple deadlines
  • Able to work with research tracking databases (Excel, REDCap)
  • Able to document research procedures
  • Able to assist in data management and quality control
Preferred Qualifications Two years of college-level course work in a relevant academic area AND one year of appropriate experience OR equivalent education/experience, knowledge of the literature on social
determinants of health, experience working with research participants, experience in preparation of posters and manuscripts.
Ability to communicate and understand Spanish.
