The Project Coordinator for the Multicenter Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Clinical Coordinating Center will work with an interdisciplinary research team to implement and conduct single-site and multicenter clinical trials and observational studies in the Departments of Physical Therapy and Orthopaedic Surgery that are federally funded (National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense etc.) as well as those that are funded internally or by foundations or professional societies. This includes serving as the Project Coordinator for two large multicenter clinical trials (28 national and international sites for each trial). Additionally, the Multicenter Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Clinical Coordinating Center has more than 20 active ongoing prospective and retrospective studies that the Project Coordinator oversees.

The Project Coordinator will primarily be responsible for the planning and conduct of multiple studies, specifically ensuring that the studies are planned and executed in a manner that will ensure valid study results and in accordance with all University and federal regulations. Responsibilities include writing and maintenance of of research protocols, execution of study procedures, and compliance at the local level and in collaboration with outside institutions. The Project Coordinator will serve as a key contact and liaison between investigators and other institutions. The incumbent in this position will create and maintain study related materials including the Manual of Operating Procedures, Clinical Protocol, Institutional Review Board and regulatory documentation, and will assist the PIs with preparation and submission of reports required by funding agencies.

The incumbent will also be responsible for investigator and site training, remote and on-site clinical monitoring, adverse event monitoring and reporting and data and safety monitoring. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating activities of the Multicenter Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Clinical Coordinating Center with the SHRS Data Coordinating Center to ensure achievement of specific benchmarks for study start-up, continuation, and closeout. The Project Coordinator will supervise another project coordinator, two research assistants and multiple student research assistant aides that support the activities of the Multicenter Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Clinical Coordinating Center. Additionally, the Project Coordinator will provide supervision and support for multiple students, residents, fellows, and faculty to ensure successful completion of their studies that are conducted in compliance with all research regulations.

 

Minimum Education Level Required: Master’s degree in a relevant field (Public Health, Clinical Research, Physical Therapy, Exercise Science, other health-related field). A certificate of proficiency in clinical research is preferred. Minimum related experience level required: 5-7 years of experience as research project coordinator. Prior experience with the supervision and conduct of multicenter clinical trials is highly preferred. Experience with technical writing is preferred.
