Project Assistant

The Division of Environmental Health in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Southern California is seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented Project Assistant to work under Dr. Megan Herting in the Herting Laboratory. The Project Assistant will assist in some on-going study related activities (i.e. recruiting, scheduling, and conducting visits) focused on brain development in children, adolescents, and young adults. In addition, this individual will oversee administrative-related tasks essential for on-going projects, including data base management, data entry, scheduling and hosting meetings, preparing slides and other materials for laboratory led multi-disciplinary collaborations. Will also assist in literature reviews as well as creation of manuscript and grant related materials as need be.

Responsibilities include:

Assisting recruitment, screening, and scheduling of study participants Assisting with data collection on other ongoing laboratory studies on an as needed basis He/she will assist with all administrative-related tasks for lab related projects, including database management, data entry, and other general office duties in support of the goals of the study Assist with the creation of figures, tables, and formatting related to manuscript and grant submission preparation Schedule, attend, and prepare data and agendas for regular weekly study meetings as well as bi-monthly scientific collaboration meetings on as needed basis Participate and assist in literature reviews

Requirements:

High School or equivalent is required Excellent English writing and speaking skills are required Sufficient computer knowledge to interface with a variety of database, word processing, and scheduling Good communication and interpersonal skills Detailed-oriented Effectiveness in organizing tasks and setting priorities, multi-tasking, working efficiently with minimum oversight, interacting constructively with faculty and staff, and the ability to be adaptable, creative, and a quick learner Flexible working hours including possible evening or weekends (~ 1 or 2 a month) is essential

Preferred:

Bachelor’s Degree is preferred Experience with software programs used in science (i.e. Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Powerpoint, EndNote) a plus Previous research laboratory and/or literature review experience a plus

Minimum Education: High school or equivalent

Minimum Experience: 1 year

Minimum Field of Expertise: Knowledge of data collection procedures and some experience with proposal preparation and production of technical documents
