Brockenhurst College are looking for an accurate Progression Advisor to join our team. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £21,609 – £23,737 pro rata, DOE.
We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.
As Progression Advisor you will interview and offer robust Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) upon a learner’s application to the College; support learners’ progression and support school liaison activities for the College.

Your responsibilities as our Progression Advisor will include:
- Conduct a caseload of admissions interviews, according to College guidelines, advising applicants impartially on appropriate courses and completing the appropriate paperwork.
- Liaise as necessary with other college staff and teams with regard to the requirements of individual applicants.
- Represent the College at careers events, giving admissions advice to potential students and their parents.
- Occasionally, deliver presentations as required as part of the schools’ liaison team to promote the College and its course offer to prospective students.
- Occasionally, provide individual and group guided tours of the College campus as required
- Assist with the organisation and delivery of Freshers’ Day, enrolment, and visits of school parties to the college.
- Attend all College Open Events to offer general admissions advice and to assist with guiding potential applicants and their families around the campus.
- Assist in the delivery of advice and guidance to individuals and groups of current students as agreed with Admissions and Progression Manager.
- Attend meetings where appropriate, including the Admissions and Progression team briefings.
- Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the College’s curriculum offer, liaising with Assistant Principals, Heads of Curriculum, and teaching staff as necessary.
- Provide advice and guidance support during Freshers’ Day and enrolment.
- Delivery and provision of support, advice and guidance during induction period as applicable
- Support and offer robust guidance through the progression process. This will include a range of abilities across all levels of the educational offer at Brockenhurst College.
- Develop knowledge of progression routes into employment and Higher Education both locally and nationally.
- Where necessary, work with students to provide advice and guidance in support of completing personal statements and UCAS applications.
- Delivery of UCAS/progression/’Next Steps’ activities as required.
What we are looking for in our Progression Advisor:
- A minimum of 5 GCSE A-C grades/equivalent to include English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Experience of working with young people, preferably in the FE sector.
- Understanding of the FE and HE education sectors and the requirements for entry into FE and HE
- Excellent interpersonal skills with drive and energy in respect of providing an excellent service to students/applicants, parents/carers and colleagues
