Programme Support Tutor (Natural Sciences)

Manchester MetropolitanUniversity is one of the UK’s largest and most popular Universities. The Department of Natural Sciences is one of the largest in the University, attracting large numbers of students on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. At undergraduate level, we offer degrees in Geography, Human Geography, Physical Geography, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology and MolecularBiology, Zoology and Animal Behaviour. There are taught Masters programmes in Environmental Practice, Conservation Biology, Zoo Conservation Biology, Biological Recording and Ecological Monitoring, and Animal Behaviour 

The Department resides within the Faculty of Science and Engineering and benefitsfrom spacious, modern and well-equipped teaching and research facilities having benefittedfrom recent significant and on-going investment. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicatedindividual who is committed to providing an excellent learning experience for our taught undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Department of Natural Sciences and enhancing oureducationalreputation.

You will have experience of teaching in geography and environmental sciences and an understanding of current teaching practices/developments within higher education. You will have a first and higher postgraduate qualification/degree in a relevant discipline or appropriateequivalent experience in the subject field, including Geographical Information Systems (ArcGIS, QGIS), remote sensing and statistics (Excel, SPSS, R and R Studio).

In recognition of staff contributions to the University’s achievements during the 2021/2022 academic year, an additional discretionary payment of 2% per annum will be added to your salary until 31/07/23 in order to ensure consistency amongst existing and incoming staff.  This additional 2% will be paid pro rata in equal monthly installments, on top of your salary each month until 31/07/23.
