About the job

Kvinna till Kvinna was first established in the Balkan region, and currently has three country offices in the region, located in Belgrade, Sarajevo and Skopje. The focus of the support in the Western Balkans is women’s rights and participation in EU integration, gender-based violence, peacebuilding, and security for women human rights defenders.

As Programme Officer in BiH you are part of the Program and Methods Department and report to the Head of Office/Regional Manager for the Western Balkans.
Responsibilities

The Programme Officer holds the responsibility of ensuring that the implementation of the programme is compliant with Kvinna till Kvinna’s mandate, policies and working methods and is responsible for the following key tasks:

  • Ensure close dialogue with partner organisations throughout the project cycle; conduct partner visits and other monitoring activities, provide technical and strategic assistance;
  • Provide continuous support to partner organisations and organise experience exchange, study trips, network meetings and capacity building activities according to the annual plan;
  • Development and maintenance of a yearly monitoring and evaluation plan for partner organisations;
  • Develop regular reports on programme implementation and current political developments in the country to donors, Head Office and any other stakeholders, as per need;
  • Ensure that all documentation regarding the programme is updated and stored;
  • Assess applications and reports from partner organisations;
  • In close cooperation with other programme and finance staff, develop operational plan, budgets, context analysis and risk assessments for country programme for the upcoming year;
  • In close cooperation with other program staff, conduct general administration and financial procedures in relation to the programme;
  • In close cooperation with other program and finance staff, provide input to and contribute to developing concept notes and proposals to donors;
  • Assist in coordinating and facilitating events, trainings and workshops organised by the programme;
  • Participate in regional and global working groups to further develop methods and thematic areas of Kvinna till Kvinna;
  • Participating in Kvinna till Kvinna internal meetings, regionally and/or in Stockholm, or other location as required;
  • Represent Kvinna till Kvinna at external meetings and functions, for example with donors, Swedish Embassy, international organisations and other NGOs;
  • Regularly report to line manager about program implementation and progress of work; alert the line manager about any problems;

About you

To be successful as a Programme Officer you need to have a strategic thinking, be responsible, flexible and adaptable. Kvinna till Kvinna is looking for someone with good social and outreach skills and ability to cooperate with a range of partners and stakeholders and acts as a good ambassador for the organisation even outside of work. You should enjoy working independently with the ability to prioritise and stay solution focused. You can handle stressful situations and peaks of intense workload.

Your civil society experience and interest in feminism gives you a belief and commitment to women’s human rights and gender equality and with that a comprehensive knowledge of current global issues and trends.

Professional qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Rights, Gender Studies, Political Science or any other related field;
  • Minimum three years of relevant work experience with women’s human rights, gender equality, women’s empowerment, women’s political activism and/or organisational development;
  • In-depth experience in project cycle management and in planning, monitoring and evaluation;
  • Experience in drafting donor reports and donor proposals;
  • Experience in identifying and providing capacity building to CSOs;
  • Good understanding of human rights and the application of a rights-based approach in development cooperation;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language, as well as good grasp of the standard Microsoft Office package;
  • Experience from working on human rights in BiH;
  • Valid drivers’ license

Terms & conditions and what we offer

This is a national position under BiH labor legislation open for candidates with valid work and residence permit in BiH.

The position is full-time with a starting probationary period of 6 months.
Starting date as soon as possible.

The position is based in the office in Sarajevo but we would like to see the person based in and work remotely from Banja Luka.
