Purpose
The TVL Program Manager works as an integral part of JBTVL, leading the day-to-day execution of programs and events that further the Center’s mission of transforming UT Austin graduate students into future entrepreneurs and business leaders while accelerating startups towards raising capital and taking innovations to market.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage project plans while actively keeping the TVL team on track to meet project timeline targets. Develop and maintain appropriate program logs to track project milestones and deliverables. Assign and manage tasks to assure organizational efficiency. Use initiative, judgment, and expertise to assess and make changes in operations and to make recommendations to the Executive Director for improvement. Develop KPIs and track metrics for continued event and program optimization.
- Support the Executive Director with the delivery and execution of the TVL Practicum class. Facilitate class operations including grading, managing communications with students and TVL Accelerator companies. Develop surveys and analyze feedback from the students and startup companies participating in the course each semester. Support the student recruitment process by communicating program information to prospective students and assisting the Executive Director with the selection process.
- Support JBTVL marketing strategies including social media, press releases, monthly newsletter and event marketing for all JBTVL programs. Work with multiple stakeholders to identify content that can be utilized in marketing efforts. Collaborate with JBTVL faculty and staff to create key marketing assets for JBTVL programs throughout each semester.
- Oversee the management of JBTVL databases. Update and manage program data in Salesforce in order to maintain accurate historical program records and provide data for annual reports. Manage and assess Crunchbase and other data sources in order to track and report updates on TVL alumni students and companies.
- Assist the Executive Director with the interview and selection process of TVL Accelerator companies. Review and approve the project work scope proposed by TVL Accelerator companies for the TVL Practicum and the TVL Startup Fellows program. Communicate with TVL Accelerator companies throughout their engagement with JBTVL.
- Establish and maintain relationships with on-campus graduate student advisors and entrepreneurship organizations. Represent JBTVL at on-campus events. Support of Texas Venture Labs Investment Competition as needed.
- Support JBTVL business development to include establishing and maintaining relationships with off-campus organizations of interest to JBTVL such as investors, entrepreneurship organizations, incubators/accelerators and service providers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree and three years of relevant work experience or Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant work experience. Effective communication and public speaking skills. Effective leadership, program management, and problem-solving skills. Ability to build strong collaborative relationships. Previous success navigating highly matrixed organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the startup environment in Austin, TX. Familiarity with venture capital, startups and the McCombs School of Business. Past experience leading teams and developing new programs.
Salary Range
$68,000 – $70,000 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions

May work around standard office conditions with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

Some evening and weekend hours will be required during peak periods and special events.

This is an Austin, TX-based position eligible for flexible scheduling and hybrid work.

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
