Summary
The Program Manager and Data Analyst is responsible for coordinating, supporting, and conducting key components of systematic reviews and meta-analyses that lead to peer-reviewed publications of Tulane Scholars. The Program manager and Data Analyst coordinates program activities relating to the Tulane Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review Support (MARS) Program. This position coordinates MARS applications and interactions with the Tulane Library to facilitate selection of MARS Scholars. In addition, this position implements and coordinates workshops/events for Tulane Scholar development in systematic review and meta-analysis methodology, evaluates program success, and manages website updates. The Program manager and Data Analyst is responsible for supporting Tulane Scholars accepted into the MARS Program in the conduct of systematic literature searches on a variety of biomedical research topics using electronic databases and other resources, assess the relevance and quality of scientific publications, extract key data from scientific publications, and assist with conducting quantitative analyses to synthesize information across a large number of studies using meta-analysis techniques. The Program manager and Data Analyst assists with development of works for publication from study results, as well as compilation of any other research-related activities deemed necessary by the MARS Scholars for the successful completion and publication of systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to effectively review relevant scientific and scholarly materials for systematic reviews/meta-analyses.
• Ability to synthesize results across scientific and scholarly materials using standard meta-analysis techniques and statistical analysis packages (i.e., STATA or R).
• Ability to adapt and respond in a timely manner to specific needs of the projects.
• Ability to produce tables and figures to best illustrate and convey results to various audiences and according to preferred reporting guidelines.
• Great attention to detail.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments.
• Ability to work well independently and demonstrate proficient problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain good working relationships.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed.
REQUIRED BACKGROUND CHECK, PHYSICAL, AND DRUG SCREENING FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:
Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended.
Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field with relevant coursework in epidemiology and biostatistics and two years of directly related experience using meta-analysis or systematic review techniques
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s Degree
• Relevant meta-analysis coursework
