Job Summary	The Schulich School of Law offers a unique and enlightened approach to legal education. Reporting to the Director of the Indigenous Blacks & Mi’kmaq (IB&M) Initiative, the Program Manager is responsible for coordinating and implementing community outreach activities, providing student and alumni support services, planning special events, and overseeing the day-to-day operational administration, in accordance with the Initiative’s mandate and objectives.
Key Responsibilities	Interact directly with current students to deliver support services (i.e., peer educators program, culturally responsive counselling, alumni mentorship program, and event planning), resolve student inquiries and issues, and direct as appropriate to parties and/or to University academic counselling services and resources. Oversee the financial administration of the IB&M Initiative, including monitoring the status of student funding, operational funding, donor funding, and budget projections. Plan and deliver accessible workshops to encourage African Nova Scotians and Mi’kmaq to consider a career in law, including attending and/or presenting at relevant career fairs and speaking at secondary schools, universities, and community organizations. Work with the IB&M Director and the Schulich Law Communications team to develop and implement an updated internal and external communications strategy. Prepare promotional materials, reports, presentations, and grant applications. Consult with Mi’kmaq and African Nova Scotian communities to build relationships, remain current on needs and concerns, analyze trends, identify key issues, and develop responses in accordance with the Initiative’s mandate. Assist with the design, coordination and implementation of innovative outreach and recruiting to African Nova Scotian and Mi’kmaq communities, identifying internal and external partners for collaboration, and strengthening partnerships.

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines. Dalhousie’s vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary.
Required Qualifications	Undergraduate degree in a field such as law, social work, education or a related field, plus approximately five years’ related experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Knowledge of the experiences and challenges of concern to Mi’kmaq and African Nova Scotian communities is required. Experience in financial administration of a program or department, as well as in student advising and a knowledge of current resources available to Mi’kmaq and African Nova Scotian students is required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management skills, along with the ability to problem-solve, take initiative, and meet deadlines is required.
