Job Summary | The Schulich School of Law offers a unique and enlightened approach to legal education. Diverse curriculum, leading specializations, and internationally recognized faculty provide exceptional opportunities in all facets of legal education. Reporting to the Director of the Indigenous Blacks & Mi’kmaq (IB&M) Initiative, the Program Manager is responsible for coordinating and implementing community outreach activities, providing student and alumni support services, planning special events, and overseeing the day-to-day operational administration, in accordance with the Initiative’s mandate and objectives. |

Note | In keeping with the Principles of Dalhousie’s Employment Equity Policy and the nature of this position, applications are restricted to candidates who self-identify as an Indigenous person of Turtle Island (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) or Person of African descent (African, Black, Caribbean). The ideal candidate will be from the Mi’kmaq or African Nova Scotian communities. Applicants are asked to please self-identify in their cover letter. Applicants are asked to submit a cover letter addressing how they have engaged and worked with African Nova Scotian and/or Mi’kmaq communities and Peoples through past work, volunteer opportunities, and/or lived experience. The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines. Dalhousie’s vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary. |
Required Qualifications | Undergraduate degree in a field such as law, social work, education or a related field, plus approximately five years’ related experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Knowledge of the experiences and challenges of concern to Mi’kmaq and African Nova Scotian communities is required. Experience in financial administration of a program or department, as well as in student advising and a knowledge of current resources available to Mi’kmaq and African Nova Scotian students is required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management skills, along with the ability to problem-solve, take initiative, and meet deadlines is required. |
