Program Manager, Executive MBA & Center Family Business

The Executive MBA and Center for Family Business Program Manager is responsible for managing the Executive MBA program and the Center for Family Business Programs and works with a high degree of independence and discretion to achieve each program’s goals – high level of student/participant satisfaction, managing expenses to budget, and maintaining relationships with EMBA alumni and Center for Family Business members. The manager is responsible for delivering excellent customer service; managing implementation of all aspects of the overall delivery of the programs (including the EMBA international trip component and working closely with faculty); and assisting in the recruitment of prospective students and family businesses. The manager interacts regularly with a wide range of constituencies including EMBA alumni, senior leadership at Fortune 500 businesses, mid-to-senior-level line managers and faculty. Furthermore, this role requires extensive liaison and work with senior corporate executives. In all interactions, candidate must be professional, exercise judgment and, at times, maintain confidential information. The position plays a central role in ensuring a high-quality educational experience for EMBA students and Center for Family Business members and sponsors. In addition, the manager will work collaboratively with the Weatherhead Executive Education team on program issues including logistics, purchase orders, etc.



  • Serve as the EMBA student contact during the program preparation and experience, dealing with all individual questions and concerns spanning a wide range of topics, including the educational experience, financial issues, the international tour, classroom materials and all other logistical matters. Develop and maintain positive relationships with all students. Identify student challenges and initiate connection with faculty and staff to resolve issues. (15%)
  • Design, plan, schedule and manage logistics of EMBA residencies – includes catering, parking, guest speaker arrangements and gifts, communications prior and during residencies (coordinate with EMBA program director), coordinate potential student attendees, etc. Plan logistical details for the international tour, including contracting with a travel company, determining visa requirements and coordinating with the Case Western Reserve University Study Abroad Office regarding CWRU requirements for student travel. Work closely with faculty for the EMBA 475 course to arrange sessions throughout the year and coordinate logistics with outside speakers. Attend all residencies and graduation. (20%)
  • Develop EMBA residency schedules. Prepare schedules and resolve conflicts with faculty. Purchase course materials as identified by faculty and efficiently distribute to students. Schedule EMBA faculty and student meetings with the faculty director and EMBA program director. Maintain registrar records for EMBA students and coordinate record management activities with the Weatherhead Registrar. Assure compliance with academic and/or institutional requirements for the program (including graduation requirements). Utilize the Student Information System to track tuition payments. Research, compile and report data for rankings surveys. (10%)
  • Serve as the daily Center for Family Business membership and sponsorship contact. Take registrations for programs, prequalify prospective registrants, manage registrations of professional service providers, prepare invoices for members and sponsors, and answer member and sponsor questions. Develop positive relationships with all prospective members, current members, and sponsors. (20%)
  • Schedule and manage logistics of all Center for Family Business programs including Peer Group meetings; includes identifying potential venues, coordinating catering, parking, working with speakers on travel arrangements, registration management (preparation of materials and on-site program management), program communications (pre- and post-program), etc. Attend all programs. (25%)


  • Monitor and record information regarding program expenditures, reconciling expense receipts with budget reports, etc. Continually seek more efficient and cost-effective ways to operate. Work with EMBA and Center for Family Business directors to project expenses. Prepare requisitions for supplies, textbooks, cases, and other support material and services (i.e., parking) as needed/specified. Manage to budget. (5%)
  • Lead and/or participate in special projects such as commencement, open houses, guest speakers, and other special EMBA or CFB specific events. (5%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned. (<1%)


    Department: Daily contact with all Weatherhead Executive Education staff including directors, EMBA faculty director, WSOM director of marketing, WSOM faculty, information technology group/services and Weatherhead registrar.

    University: Contact with University central offices including registrar, bursar, purchasing, printing, accounts payable, student accounts, financial aid, access services, and bookstore.

    External: Frequent contact with senior to middle level managers and program participants/students. Frequent contact with external vendors such as publishers, non-CWRU faculty and coaches.

    Students: Daily contact with EMBA students and Center for Family Business members and sponsors.



    No supervision of staff.



    Education/Experience: High school education and 5 years of related experience. OR Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience. Experience in program management. Experience in an academic institution and experience working with senior corporate executives preferred.



  • Excellent proactive customer service delivery skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, especially the ability to learn and use technology tools.
  • Superior interpersonal skills to interact effectively and represent Executive Education, Weatherhead School of Management and Case Western Reserve Univeristy well with participants, faculty, administrators and corporate contacts. A team player who is able to work independently as well as work well with other members of the staff.
  • Possesses a positive and can-do attitude that supports Weatherhead Executive Education.
  • Proven ability to work successfully in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Proven organizational and project management skills, including the ability to organize and manage multiple projects and processes simultaneously while maintaining a focus on the details and adhering to budgets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to clearly communicate and adapt to requests with the goal of delivering successful programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook)
  • Demonstrate ability to discreetly handle confidential information.
  • Ability to meet consistent attendance. 
  • Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face to face.


    Professional office setting, customer focused and results oriented. Fast-paced, constantly changing working environment requiring adaptability and flexibility. Flexible schedule that may require long hours including evenings and weekends. Local travel may also be required. Ability to lift and move boxes weighing 20 pounds. This position is eligible for the staff hybrid work program.
