All About You

Under general direction, serves as liaison between SLU College for Public Health and Social Justice and all outside community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders associated with the Ryan White Planning Council; manages the activities associated with the project to ensure timely completion.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works directly with local and state health agencies, private and public health care providers, HIV prevention organization  staff, consumers (individuals with HIV), and other community based organization  staff to run the Planning Council support office; prioritizes health care needs, services, and treatment for patients in the St. Louis region referred from various agencies, such as healthcare organizations, community-based organizations  that reach individuals with HIV or at risk for HIV, and consumer advocacy groups.

  • Facilitates monthly Planning Council meetings and regular subcommittee meetings.

  • Collates data; manages and collects primary qualitative data; and performs other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

  • Ability to work strategically, including systems-thinking, resource-based planning and long-term initiative development

  • Ability to work independently and manage self and partners towards goals, while being a genuine “team player”

  • Ability to identify and develop strategies based on community input for supporting focused youth-centered advocacy initiatives

  • Ability to connect with diverse professional and practitioner community members such as school officials, mental health professionals, and individuals and groups being served

  • Ability to identify opportunities for complimentary programs and policy Ability to work in a fast moving and at times intense environment Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Comfortable interfacing with a wide variety of stakeholders from elected officials to low-income community residents

  • Comfortable facilitating meetings, public speaking and making presentations

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or related field; supplemented with at least two (2) years of work experience in HIV service, community development/organizing,

epidemiology, or behavioral science; or a Master’s degree with relevant experience.
