Program Manager

The Program Manager, for Radiation Oncology, leads the shaping and implementation of the departments overall financial planning and operations in support of Keck School of Medicine of USC’s vision to build and operationalize Radiation Oncology services in Southern California. The Program Manager will display leadership and sound organizational and analytical skills, while serving as an expert in understanding industry trends to inform our current and future needs alongside business strategies. In addition, this role will be responsible for all financial and analytical reports, budgets, and business development in partnership with the Department Administrator and Department Chair. This leader will need to build trusted relationships and partner closely and effectively with internal and external stakeholders to shape and define a roadmap, build the plan, gain agreement for the strategy, and identify, articulate, and support navigation of risks and blockers. This leader will also need to build working relationships with faculty members in the department who focus on clinical care and research. Deep expertise in project management, relationship building and meeting facilitation within the constraints of time, scope, budget, and is critical for succeeding in this role.

Preferred Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 

  • Master’s (MHA, MBA) Degree or equivalent degree strongly preferred. 

Preferred Experience/Knowledge: 

  • 2-4 years of project management/process improvement experience in health care system environment 

  • Proficiency of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management including tools and techniques 

  • Strategic planning and critical thinking skills for problem solving and identification of solutions 

  • Ability to facilitate working sessions with large, cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams 

  • Strong analytical skills to synthesis and act on big data in the organization

  • Build relationships with faculty to drive projects forward

  • Experience with Microsoft solutions (including PowerPoint and Visio) Required License/Certification: 

  • Valid Fire and Safety Certification -If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only) Preferred: 

  • Project management certification – PMP preferred or other applicable/credentialed project management certifications

  • Working knowledge of project management

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 3 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related professional and supervisory experience in area of program specialization
