The University of Maryland, Baltimore Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Supervisory Program Director in the Center for Blood Oxygen Transport and Hemostasis. The Program Director achieves Center objectives through coordinating the efforts of others, typically by managing recruitment, engagement, performance, and development of employees. Other responsibilities include developing and implementing goals and objectives, participating in strategic planning, and managing workflow, projects, and/or systems. The Program Director is accountable for operational and financial resources, ensuring legal and policy compliance, and recommends financial, personnel, and significant strategic decisions for senior management approval.

Essential Functions:
- Plan and direct daily activities of one or more programs of substantive size and budget. Direct the preparation, coordination, and maintenance of the program content and delivery methods for the operations within the Center.
- Monitoring relationships of outside agencies or subcontractors.
- Manage budget, including approving finances, tracking expenditures, and preparing reports on current finances.
- Oversee databases used to analyze criteria and deliver data, as well as to monitor, evaluate, and recommend to senior management revisions to program operating policies and procedures.
- Plan data management and communication strategy for program. Work with senior management in developing program goals and milestones.
- Organize and/or participate in various committees and teams to consult with program heads and administrative officials on policy and program needs as well as various administrative issues.
- Coordinate the regular publication of summary reports and serves as an information resource to coworkers, the university, and external figures.
- Develop funding sources for the program, through grant seeking, major fundraising events and/or donations.
- May interact with students and facilitate resolution through technical and/or clerical personnel.
- Create a cohesive work team that works collaboratively to achieve program’s goals. Oversee the recruitment, performance, and training of team members and continually reviews strengths and weaknesses of staff to maintain a well-trained, highly involved, and motivated team.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree.
Experience: Six (6) years of program oversight including program planning, budget, and coordination
Supervisory Experience: Two (2) years of direct management experience required.
Certification/Licensure: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. Hiring Range: Approximately $93,000 – $98,000, commensurate with education and experience.
