Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Director (Community Education & Engagement) in Cancer Health Equity & Engagement at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Administration (Cancer Health Equity Center of Excellence (CHECoE), Co-Director, ScreenNJ), this position is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, improvement, and overall coordination of the Community Education and Engagement activities, including supervision and direction of assigned personnel, systems, resources, activities, and budgets.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Strategic, tactical, and operational planning of COE and ScreenNJ community education and engagement initiatives, services, and resources to define, operationalize, and achieve COE and ScreenNJ program goals.
  • Develop, implement, and direct COE and ScreenNJ program activities, services, and content.
  • Evaluation, data collection, and assessment to continuously improve the quality, impact and efficiency of the COE/ScreenNJ Program and related departmental efforts.
  • Communicate, Collaborate, and Bi-Directional partner engagement to extend, enhance, and sustain ScreenNJ Program efforts.
  • Supervise, manage, and develop staff to support ScreenNJ Program and related departmental efforts.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s Degree in public health, health sciences, health care policy, or a related field. 
  • Five (5) years progressively more responsible experience in public health, healthcare, healthcare policy, educational outreach, research and sponsored programs administration, project management, or related services. 
  • Prior management experience. 
Certifications/Licenses
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a car for travel or alternate means of transportation to get to multiple worksites/community events.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High degree of independence, flexibility, initiative and commitment. 
  • Demonstrated awareness and value of cultural competence.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all Rutgers and external constituencies. 
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and project management skills are key. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage numerous projects and people simultaneously. 
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to guide teams and work with partners to set and achieve clear goals and results. 
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. 
  • Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual. 
  • Previous experience in a problem-solving, patient/client-facing role (preferably in healthcare, as a patient navigator or case manager). 
  • Two (2) or more years’ experience in team or project coordination, including coordinating and prioritizing tasks between multiple people and/or multiple projects. 
  • EHR experience. 
  • Knowledge of how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office environment. Moderate noise.
