Overview | The Rutgers Future Scholars (RFS) Program is a 5-year pre-college program for talented, low income, first generation college-bound youth from Rutgers University’s five host cities: Camden, New Brunswick, Newark, Piscataway, and Rahway. The goal of the RFS Program is to increase the number of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and attend college. Scholars who successfully complete the program, and receive admission into Rutgers University receive a full-tuition scholarship (after all federal and state grant aid) funded through a range of grants and donations. |
Posting Summary | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator I for the the Rahway Community for Rutgers Future Scholars. Reporting to and under the supervision of the Rutgers Future Scholars (RFS) Program Director and Senior Program Coordinator for Rahway, this position will have primary responsibility for the coordination of key components of the Rutgers Future Scholars program in Rahway. The coordinator will be responsible for recruiting and advising 15 rising 8th graders, with a cohort of 15 added each subsequent year (Year 5: max 75 in grades 8th through 12th) The coordinator will develop and implement year-round programming focused on the Scholars’ (including summers) academic, college preparatory, cultural, and personal development in collaboration with district and RFS program leaders. Programs may take place during the school day, after-school, evenings, Saturdays, and summer months, as deemed appropriate. The incumbent will supervise RFS seasonal and temporary personnel. The coordinator will manage and support budget and program reporting, communications/social media accounts, maintain accurate records and data, support and foster relationships with RFS university director, the Rahway Township Public Schools leadership, other RFS sites, corporate and foundation partners, private supporters, and other relevant agencies. The coordinator will also have the shared responsibility to serve as an Alumni Relations coordinator providing college/transfer advising and communication about RFS events/or RU services to current undergraduates. Work Arrangement | Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. COVID-19 Immunization Requirement | Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination. |
