Program Coordinator, Emory College of Arts and Sciences

Emory College of Arts & Sciences offers a variety of credit and non-credit academic summer programs to both degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking students. Emory College Summer School enrolls primarily degree-seeking Emory College students and other visiting undergraduates. Summer School includes online, in-person, and study-away courses and currently consists of three academic terms, a three-week Maymester and two six-week summer sessions.

 

The Emory Pre-College Program is a summer academic program for high school students, designed to provide college-bound rising juniors and rising seniors an exciting glimpse of academic and residential life at a top-ranked national university. Two-week non-credit courses and six-week credit courses are available, and students may participate in a residential program, live within commuting distance of campus, or enroll in online courses. The Summer Programs team is situated within the Emory College Office for Undergraduate Education and works in close collaboration with teams across the College and the University to serve students.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Primary duties are organizing, coordinating, and planning operational facets of a program and its related activities which include, but are not limited to the following: establishing long-term operational objectives, researching factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input into the development of strategic plans.
  • Develops work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement.
  • Conducts research and gathers information to develop various publications.
  • Develops promotional materials which may include content for reports, briefings, newsletters, grants or other written information related to the program.
  • Assists in developing and coordinating program-related conferences, conventions, or meetings.
  • Monitors expenditures and may participate in the budget planning process and prepare financial reports.
  • May assist in identifying funding resources and developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives.
  • Prepares operational and statistical reports.
  • Conducts training, represents the program at meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups.
  • May supervise assigned project staff, interns and/or volunteers.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • This is not an administrative support position.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • The Emory College Summer Programs team is a highly collaborative group that supports credit-bearing Summer School courses, the Emory Pre-College Program, and plans innovative and dynamic new summer offerings.
  • Fast-paced, professional, team-oriented group. The Summer Programs team operates with an all-hands-on-deck approach to accomplishing the department’s mission of offering excellent academic programs during the summer.
  • The Program Coordinator will play in integral role in supporting all aspects of our programs. Specific responsibilities will include:
    • Assisting with the curriculum planning process for Emory College Summer School.
    • Administering the visiting summer student admissions and orientation processes.
    • Assisting with the Pre-College Program admissions, pre-arrival, and orientation processes.
    • Communicating regularly with prospective students, parents, and faculty.
    • Collaborating closely with the rest of the Summer Programs team and the Office for Undergraduate Education to support all summer programs and to develop new offerings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the program and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in an academic work setting.
  • Able to think creatively and critically and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently. Must have a keen attention to detail and high customer service skills.
  • Technically proficient (Microsoft Office suite, able to quickly learn and use Canvas, PeopleSoft, TerraDotta,Slate, CourseLeaf and other database and website editing tools as needed).
  • Willingness and ability to work some evening and weekend hours during the academic year and summer as needed.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
