Working for the Department/Faculty

The College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CNAS) spans the entire range of scientific teaching and research, from pure and fundamental discovery that advances our understanding of the world around us to the direct application of science and technology that transforms and improves lives and sustains the environment. CNAS is home to over 14,000 undergraduate students and 3,000 graduate students through the Faculties of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences; Engineering; and Science.

Position

Reporting to the Director, Office of Education, the Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting student academic needs, including graduate academic administration and work integrated learning. The Program Coordinator supports processes related to graduate admissions, enrolment, registration, awards, exams, academic scheduling and student records, as well as supports WIL administration.

Duties

  • Provides support to Faculty/Departments with regard to Graduate Student Admissions, Courses, Examinations, and Awards.
  • Coordinates committee meetings including scheduling, preparation of materials, recording minutes and preparing reports.
  • Provides support to the College/Faculty concerned with Work Integrated Learning and Experiential Learning activities, (ie, I-STEAM Pathways, MITACS BSI)
  • Reviews and updates Faculty/School graduate studies information on the website.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of two years related experience, particularly in a post-secondary environment.
  • Experience with student administration systems technology in a post-secondary environment (PeopleSoft) is required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated intercultural understanding.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and competing deadlines in a very demanding, fast-past environment while maintaining superior accuracy
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, including problem assessment and escalation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University of Alberta policies and procedures.
