The Program Coordinator for First Year Experience is a position within the Office of Student Life and reports to the Associate Director of New Student Programs. The incumbent will provide programmatic and administrative support for the First Year Experience Office (FYE), Commuter Student Programs (CSP), and Transfer Student Programs (TSP). Primary duties include: organization and implementation of the First Year Success Series and Spring Into Sophomore Year Program Series, and assisting with the planning, organization and implementation of other events and programs, including New & Transfer Student Orientation, Pitt Odyssey, Pittstarts and other retention initiatives.

The Program Coordinator will oversee the recruitment, hiring, training and supervision of the First Year Mentors. In addition, this person will be responsible for advising First Year Mentor Committees and providing event planning support. Other primary duties include overseeing FYE marketing projects and campaigns including social media. Responsible for the coordination and delivery of first year and transfer student programming that fosters an active and educational campus environment, including late night and social programs. Duties also include attending & coordinating meetings, aiding with program assessment and evaluation, collaboration with other Student Life Staff on Student Life initiatives, and other duties as requested by the Associate Director for New Student Programs.

 

Master’s Degree and 3-5 years experience preferred. Incumbent must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills are extremely important. Experience with web design and maintenance is a plus. Minimum 2 years in Student Activities programming, events management, or related field.
