Department summary

The Continuing Dental Education (CDE) Unit with the School of Dentistry provides professional development programs and courses to oral health professionals. 

Position summary

The Program Coordinator is responsible for successfully organizing and executing the Orthodontic module in the Continuing Dental Education (CDE) Unit. Components of this course will be conducted during the evenings and weekends

Duties

  • Works collaboratively with the CDE unit, course coordinators and Director
  • Prepares required documentation and ensures process improvement and efficiency with regards to programs
  • Review course material and lectures provided by instructors
  • Coordinate schedule with instructors and staff involved in programs
  • Act as the primary day-to-day operational contact/resource for the orthodontic module
  • Assist the instructors with the clinical component of the course
  • Requisition, track and inventory all supplies used during courses, including all accounting processes as purchase requisitions and expense reimbursements
  • Investigates and resolves any discrepancies on account transactions
  • Stay up to date on professional colleges guideline changes, policies and procedures
  • Reviews reports to identify outstanding data or enrollment issues which require follow-up

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate from an accredited Dental Assisting Program (RDA) or NDAEB certification
  • Advanced practice education course in Orthodontics
  • Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of various professional colleges
  • Accurate data entry skills; exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and diverse work environment that is dynamic and ever-changing
  • Works independently and effectively under tight deadlines in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Well-developed relationship building and networking skills
  • Proficiency using MS Office applications and Google Suite
