Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator for the Newark Screening Department within the University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC).  In collaboration with the Program Manager and Director of Acute Emergency Services, the Program Coordinator functions as a member of the clinical and administrative leadership team in the Newark Crisis Services.  Primarily responsible for providing supervision to multi-disciplinary staff and ensuring compliance with all regulations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Supervises staff on a daily basis for an assigned shift, providing administrative and clinical direction.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information; recognizes and respects limits of authority and responsibility.
  • Maintains client satisfaction level of the office in the area of client-staff interaction at or above the benchmark level of the Mental Health Corporations of America standard.
  • Respects the privacy of all consumer/patients and staff in accordance with regulatory and University standards.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends and development in the mental health field; regularly attends and participates in in-service meetings and other designated training events that will enhance clinical skills, and maintain best practices.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s Degree in a related mental health field and four (4) years of post-graduate experience in related community mental health and/or case management work.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
  • Licensed in New Jersey to provide mental health services as an independent practitioner (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, psychology license).
  • Eligibility for certification as a Psychiatric Screener in the state of New Jersey is required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrates knowledge of professional standards and practices in the field of mental health and rehabilitative services.

Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience.
