Position Summary:

Context

Established in 2010, the McGill Office of Sustainability (MOOS) embeds climate action and sustainability into all of the University’s activities. It engages, supports, and connects students, staff, and faculty by providing strategic guidance and resources to foster a sustainable community. 

The Office of Sustainability stewards the Sustainability Projects Fund, oversees the implementation of the McGill University Climate & Sustainability Strategy, and facilitates a variety of sustainability engagement programs for students, staff, and faculty members

Responsibilities:

  • Design graphics for mcgill.ca/sustainability and Instagram, in line with McGill Sustainability branding
  • Work with the Associate Director to design and build engaging, easy-to-read webpages
  • Use digital tools to translate pages from English to French
  • Proofread content for mcgill.ca/sustainability, looking out for typos and inactive hyperlinks
  • Work with McGill IT staff to fix any problems that arise
  • Keep apprised of McGill Website Management System (WMS) updates, policies, and newly released features which can be applied to the site

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

Qualifications:

  • Graphic design experience and familiarity with Canva and/or Adobe Photoshop
  • Reliable, with strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently, with limited supervision
  • Fluency in written French
  • Demonstrated web editing experience with McGill’s WMS (Drupal), including up-to-date McGill WMS training an asset
  • Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and groups at McGill an asset

“Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # 4 on a scale of 0-4.”

Hours: 6-10 hours a week, January 27, 2025, to December 31, 2025, with the possibility to extend as needed

Remuneration: $16.30 per hour + 4% vacation pay and compensation for Legal Holidays.
