Offer DescriptionThe Medical University of Vienna (MedUni Vienna) with more than 6.500 employees and about 8.500 students is one of the largest academic medical schools in the EU area. At the Center for Public Health of the MedUni Vienna a Full Professorship Position for Gerontology according to §98 university act 2002 is available, starting January 1st, 2026. - Graduation in medicine with a subject specific doctorate or an equivalent foreign university degree
- Qualification as a general practitioner or specialist in internal medicine or equivalent domestic and foreign authority
- Outstanding scientific qualification in the field of medical gerontology with a focus on healthy longevity
- Scientific, clinical and practical experience in the field of aging and aging science, medical gerontology, life-stage related health promotion and prevention with special consideration of the elderly as well as its diversity and experience in the field of health services research
- Successful and continuous acquisition of competitive third-party funds
- Leadership and management experience, including gender and diversity competence
- Experience in interdisciplinary cooperation in clinic and research
- Educational and didactic qualification (evaluation results regarding teaching activities)
- International work experience
Specific RequirementsExpected from the applicant:
- Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research to strengthen the field of medical gerontology and public health as well as networking with the research clusters and centers described in the University`s development plan
- Close cooperation in research and teaching with the Haus der Barmherzigkeit or an equivalent provider of interdisciplinary long-term facilities for people with chronic illnesses and disabilities
- Representation of the subject area in the medical curriculum aimed at integrative and practice oriented training
- Competence in employee leadership and motivation
- Commitment to quality orientation and willingness to continuously enhance personal management skills
