Job Details:

Position Title: Professor, Pathways Programs

Status: Full-Time Academic

Faculty: Faculty of Liberal Arts & Sciences

Campus/Location: North Campus and Lakeshore Campus

Salary: Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the collective agreement for academic employees.

What you will do:

The successful candidate will teach and develop curriculum for Pathways programs including General Arts and Sciences. In addition to teaching and assessing student progress and achievement, the candidate will also develop culturally competent, responsive, and relevant curriculum, design or revise specific courses, work collaboratively with colleagues, and participate in committees, applied research projects, and other department-wide, Faculty-wide or college-wide initiatives. Teaching could be assigned at any Humber campus and in the online environment.

What you bring to the role:

Education:

A graduate degree in a field or discipline related to Psychology.

Experience and Skills:

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:

– Develop and teach courses that introduce students to foundational concepts, critical thinking skills, and academic strategies necessary for success in higher education.
– Design curriculum that advances EDIB, promotes interdisciplinary perspectives, and fosters student engagement, active learning, and wellbeing.
– Conduct research and stay current with best practices and emerging trends in inclusive curriculum development and diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.
– Integrate pedagogical strategies to support first-year students as they navigate the transition to college life.
– Participate in departmental and institutional initiatives aimed at enhancing the first-year experience and promoting student retention and success.
– Engage in scholarly activities related to teaching and learning in the first-year experience.

Qualifications:

– Previous postsecondary teaching experience in areas related to foundational, first-year and/or developmental courses.
– Knowledge of student development theory and best practices in supporting the transition to college including the integration of metacognitive strategies across the curriculum.
– Commitment to inclusive curriculum development, teaching and assessment practices and applying a student-centred approach to all aspects of teaching and classroom management.
– Cultural competency to develop and deliver culturally responsive curriculum.
– Ability to foster innovation and positive change in all aspects of the professor role.
– Ability to collaborate and contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture.
– Online teaching and online course development experience.
