The Tulane School of Professional Advancement (SoPA) provides undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs in flexible formats that allow working adults to reach their academic goals while fulfilling other life responsibilities. SoPA’s undergraduate Business & Leadership Studies Program (BSLS Program) is seeking a qualified individual for a Professor of Practice position. This is a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position with a typical teaching load of eight undergraduate courses per year, to support the BSLS Program’s curriculum in organizational behavior and management, human resources, small business development, accounting, and related subjects. In addition to teaching courses in their area(s) of expertise, the successful candidate will work closely with the BSLS Program Director to develop curriculum and train, mentor and evaluate adjunct faculty. The Professor of Practice also will advise and mentor current and prospective BSLS students; serve on SoPA and University committees; and assist with other administrative tasks necessary for the BSLS Program’s promotion and operation.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Doctoral degree in business administration, organizational psychology, leadership, or other related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in organizational management, accounting, banking, finance, human resource management, corporate governance, entrepreneurship, corporate/in-house counsel, or similar areas of business.
- Demonstrated excellence in course development and teaching at the post-secondary level, ideally online and in-person.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver creative, innovative, and rigorous higher education courses in synchronous and asynchronous online formats.
- Ability to provide effective academic advisement and mentoring to working adult students.
- Ability to collaborate seamlessly with individuals of various ages and backgrounds.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with leaders in the public and private sectors of the business community, to enhance Program visibility and stature and increase internship and employment opportunities for students.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience teaching in higher education.
- Experience with developing and teaching synchronous and asynchronous online courses.
- Experience and high level of comfort in the use of learning management systems, Canvas preferred
