Your new role

Partnering with the Tasmanian Health Service and The Menzies Institute of Medical Research, the Professor of Nursing will play a key role in enhancing the school’s reputation and community engagement. Providing academic leadership, particularly in building research teams, with a focus on boosting research impact for the health of older persons in Tasmania. Supporting evidence-based learning and teaching to educate a new generation of agile health professionals and researchers. Creation and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally, nationally and internationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community to enable future success.

The School of Nursing works in close partnership with Tasmanian and national healthcare partners to improve the health of Tasmanians and to educate a new generation of nurses with capability in leadership and future-focused health care. 

What you’ll need to succeed

As an established Academic Leader, you will bring to the role demonstrated experience in securing external funding and delivery of high-quality research of international standing. Your supportive and coaching style will enable people to focus on their expertise and career trajectory. Your demonstrated capacity to build successful research teams with career progression of PhD students, post-doctoral staff and other early career researchers will see the team succeed. A well-established record in a field relevant to the School’s strategic goals such as aged care, mental health or palliative care will provide sound building blocks to some of societies current challenges and enable you create a sustainable future for all our communities.
