Employment is expected to commence on 1 January 2025. This professorship pursues the aim to develop and anchor a relevant focus in research and teaching, which will serve as a crucial point of inter-section in the continuous exchange with existing fields of work (general education and diversity-sensitive education, adult education and vocational training, school education and historical education research, social pedagogy and social inclusion as well as the Centre for Peace Research and Peace Education).The appointee will represent the field of migration and inclusion research in both research and teaching and should be distinguished by outstanding achievements. The duties of the professorship com-prise theory formation, research and development activities in the given area of expertise, while also giving due consideration to the broad sphere of socially oriented educational science, in line with the department’s interests.The duties of the position include:

  • Representing the academic field of migration and inclusion research in research and teaching
  • Teaching, examination, guidance and supervision activities in the department’s degree programmes at Bachelor and Master level as well as doctoral degree programmes
  • Advising and mentoring of early career researchers
  • Competitive research grant acquisition, implementation and management
  • Helping to shape the long-term development of the department and its positioning in the international scientific community
  • Participation in academic self-governance and university management

Prerequisites:

  • Habilitation or equivalent qualification in a relevant field
  • Excellent research and publication record in the field of migration and inclusion research, linking to several of the department’s areas of interest
  • Proven university teaching record and expertise in higher education didactics
  • Leadership skills and ability to work in a team

The university also expects:

  • Willingness to contribute to shaping and refining the department’s profile
  • Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary co-operation and collaboration within and beyond the department
  • Development of additional key research areas relating to the department or faculty

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in regional, national and international research cooperation
  • Experience in the acquisition, implementation, and management of third-party funded research projects
  • Relevant non-university practice in the sense of experience with questions and issues of migration, mobility and social inclusion, e.g. in international contexts, in communal environments, school and educational institutions, social institutions or professional contexts and/or NGOs
  • Innovative approaches in the development and teaching of theories and methods
  • Experience in university management
  • Competence in the field of gender mainstreaming and diversity management
