This breadth of expertise offers unique opportunities to address the complex challenges of modern society, to develop comprehensive new approaches, and educate the problem-solvers of tomorrow from a multidisciplinary perspective.At the Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies, the University of Vienna seeks to appoint aFull Professor of Historical Archaeology with a Focus on the Later Middle Ages, Modern Times and Contemporary HistoryThe position:The applicant has a special research focus in historical archaeology (with a focus on the period from the late Middle Ages up to contemporary historical archaeology), primarily in Central Europe, and pursues a broad interdisciplinary approach. Further strengthening the existing interdisciplinary competences of the Viennese archaeological research landscape is desired, especially in the field of material and/or Heritage Sciences. The ability and willingness to teach theories and methods of archaeology as well as medieval, modern and contemporary archaeology are extensively required. This also includes conducting training excavations.Your academic profile:
- Doctoral degree/PhD
- Outstanding research achievements, excellent publication and funding record, international reputation
- Proven leadership qualities

- Experience in designing and managing large research projects
- Enthusiasm for excellent teaching and supervision at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level
- Willingness to take on organisational and administrative responsibilities within the Faculty and/or the University
