Offer DescriptionA professorship for exercise physiology with special emphasis on training therapy will allow the continuation and expansion of the exercise physiology research and teaching activities of the “Sports Physiology, Training & Training Therapy” research group, which will be increasingly expanded in the direction of health and training therapy. In terms of content, the professorship – in the context of the new health-oriented overall alignment of the Department of Human Movement Science, Sport and Health (IBSG) and the utilisation of the new training and diagnostics centre (laboratory for exercise physiology and training facilities) – deals with physiology and applied training science for the individualisation of training loads and methods in competitive athletes, healthy (un)trained people and people with various chronic diseases. The focus in teaching is on general physiology and exercise physiology education as well as training therapy education with a focus on internal medicine, but also on subjects in the field of training sciences. Through the profile of the professorship and cooperation partnerships in the clinical field, participation in key research areas of the University of Graz such as BioHealth or BioTechMed as well as the development of exercise physiology care for (young) competitive athletes are expected.   • Austrian or equivalent foreign higher education degree corresponding with the position (doctorate/PhD)
  • Habilitation or equivalent qualification in exercise physiology or in an equivalent subject
  • Outstanding academic qualifications in research and teaching in the relevant discipline and for the profile of the professorship (commensurate with stage of academic career)
  • Success in attracting subject-specific project grants, particularly where competitively awarded third-party funds are concerned
  • Skills in higher education didactics and online teaching
  • Skills in the supervision and guidance of early career researchers
  • Professional experience abroad during academic career
  • Management and leadership experience
  • Gender mainstreaming skills
  • Very good knowledge of German and English
  • Basic (undergraduate) degree in sport sciences or in related studies
  • Experience in conducting research projects in cooperation with clinical institutions
  • Publications in the first and second quartile in the field in which the professorship is advertised are preferred
  • International professional networking
  • Willingness to take on administrative tasks
  • Practical experience in exercise physiology care for competitive athletes is preferred
  • Skills and experience in employee and research group leadership
  • Team spirit and willingness to contribute to multidisciplinary cooperation partnerships
  • Experience in university teaching and in the supervision and guidance of early-stage researchers
  • Relatively long occupation at a university or research Department outside one’s own during the academic career (professional experience abroad in a non-German-speaking country (desirable)

Additional InformationBenefitsThe minimum remuneration as stated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement is EUR 89.075,00 gross per year.
