At the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering our students are studying to be for example innovators, entrepreneurs, illustrators, communications officers, network technicians and engineers. Here we have the research specialisations of Embedded Systems, and Innovation and Product Realisation. Our work takes place in cooperation with and in strategic agreements with companies, organisations and public authorities in the region.

Position description
The aim of the employment is to strengthen the competence and strategic leadership in the area of Cybersecurity, which is an area of development within Trusted Smart System that is one of two strategic areas identified in the MDU strategy. Already today, there are several ongoing related research projects, and a Master programme is being planned, in addition to existing courses at Bachelor and Master level. A key motivation for this recruitment is to strengthen the coordination of existing activities, as well as develop the area further. Specific duties include
- Research
- Supervision of doctoral students and junior researchers
- Collaboration with external academic and industrial partners
- Responsibility for the development of the Cybersecurity research area
- Taking a leading role in the formulation of funding proposals and leading research projects
- Teaching mainly related to Cybersecurity at PhD and Master level
- Taking a leading role in the development of courses and study programmes related to Cybersecurity
Qualification requirements
Academic skills will have been demonstrated by independent research work which to a significant degree exceeds the requirements for docent competence (see the University’s Guidelines for assessment of docent competence).
Importance is also attached to the planning and leading of research. Academic skills may also have been demonstrated by the ability to achieve results in research through cooperation in joint projects of benefit to academia and to industry/the public sector/society in general and through the ability to disseminate research.
Teaching skills will have been demonstrated by teaching at first-cycle as well as third-cycle levels. The assessment of teaching skills shall apply to the planning, carrying out and evaluation of teaching as well as supervision and examination. Teaching skills shall be documented in such a way that their quality can also be assessed.
The applicant should have completed ten weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. A person appointed as a Professor but lacking training in higher education teaching and learning will be offered in-house training within two and a half years. The course in higher education teaching and learning at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.
- The applicant should have documented proficiency in successful collaboration with academic and industrial partners.
- The applicant should have documented proficiency in leading larger research or collaboration efforts.
- The applicant should have documented proficiency in acquiring external funding at both national and international level.
- The applicant should have ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing.

Assessment criteria
The assessment criteria shall be based on the degree of skills required for the appointment. In general terms these assessment criteria shall include the ability to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to fulfil the duties well.
The same attention shall be paid to the assessment of teaching skills as to the assessment of academic skills.
Ability to think strategically and meet strategic goals.
Ability to lead others towards joint objectives, together with ability to cooperate with others in different contexts.
Ability to communicate in Swedish both orally and in writing.
