Professor of Clinical Microbiology

The University of Liverpool is seeking to appoint a Clinical Professor with an Honorary Consultant position held at Liverpool Clinical Laboratories (Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust (LCL, LUHFT).  This will further support our world leading research in infectious disease. 

You will be research active and will lead an internationally competitive research programme in medical microbiology, which aligns and integrates with our current research activity in efforts in infectious disease and antimicrobial resistance.  You will be expected to acquire competitive third-party funding to sustain your research.  You will provide leadership for this research area across the university and the NHS.

You will be eligible for NHS consultant appointment and have a substantial track record in excellent research. You will have MBBS/MBChB FRCPath or its recognised equivalence and be clinically trained and experienced to Consultant level in Clinical Microbiology. 

Your role will be instrumental to better connecting our existing expertise in infectious disease research at the University of Liverpool with clinical microbiology at LCL.  Hence, we are seeking a candidate who is enthusiastic to interact and collaborate with infectious disease and other clinical colleagues at our institute and our NHS trusts, and also to engage in translational and mechanistic research with discovery scientists.
