Offer DescriptionThe professorship based at the Department of Arts and Musicology includes research and teaching in the field of art history with a focus on art from the 18th to 20th centuries as well as in the field of media cultural history and aesthetics.The professorship actively shapes the faculty’s core topic “Perception: episteme, aesthetics, politics” and cooperates with Musicology in particular through joint research and teaching projects. Active participation in the administration and events of the Department as well as in the committees of academic self-administration are expected. In addition, the post holder is expected to participate in curriculum development and activities in the core research areas. In teaching, the post holder will teach courses in the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes and supervise final papers at all of the above levels in the Department of Art History.We also expect gender mainstreaming skills.Where to apply E-mail[email protected]RequirementsResearch Field Other Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsEmployment requirements:

  • Austrian or equivalent foreign higher education degree corresponding with the position (doctorate/PhD)
  • Habilitation or equivalent qualification in Art History
  • Outstanding academic qualifications in research and teaching in the relevant discipline and for the profile of the professorship (commensurate with stage of academic career)
  • Success in attracting subject-specific project grants, particularly where competitively awarded third-party funds are concerned
  • Skills in higher education didactics and online teaching
  • Skills in the supervision and guidance of early career researchers
  • Professional experience abroad during academic career
  • Management and leadership experience
  • Gender mainstreaming skills
  • Excellent knowledge of German and English; skills in at least one other relevant language
  • Interdisciplinary experience in research and teaching
  • Two monographs and other relevant publications in internationally peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience in university teaching and in supervising final papers at all levels (bachelor’s/master’s/doctorate) (preferred)
  • Willingness to participate in curriculum development and teaching organisation
  • International networking within the subject-specialist community

Additional InformationBenefitsThe minimum remuneration as stated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement is EUR 89.075,00 gross per year.
