Offer DescriptionThe research and teaching area of the professorship encompasses Art History from the 15th to 17th centuries. A specialisation in the field of Media and Collection History is desirable. A profound knowledge of the history of art, knowledge and culture of the early modern period and the Baroque as well as the ability to conduct interdisciplinary academic work in research and teaching are required. Cooperation with those working in the field of Musicology and Art History at the University of Graz is desired. The research activity should be documented by relevant publications in internationally peer-reviewed journals, including two monographs. Active participation in the administration and events of the Department as well as in the committees of the academic self-administration is expected. In addition, the successful candidate should be involved in the development of curricula and core research areas; in particular, the professorship should contribute to either the faculty core topics “Perception” or “Trans-Mediterranean Entanglements”. In teaching, the successful candidate will offer courses in the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs and supervise final theses at all levels in the field of Art History. We also expect gender mainstreaming skills.RequirementsResearch Field Other Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsEmployment requirements:

  • Austrian or equivalent foreign higher education degree corresponding with the position (doctorate/PhD)
  • Habilitation or equivalent qualification in Art History
  • Outstanding academic qualifications in research and teaching in the relevant discipline and for the profile of the professorship (commensurate with stage of academic career)
  • Success in attracting subject-specific project grants, particularly where competitively awarded third-party funds are concerned
  • Skills in higher education didactics and online teaching
  • Skills in the supervision and guidance of early career researchers
  • Professional experience abroad during academic career
  • Management and leadership experience
  • Gender mainstreaming skills
  • Very good knowledge of German and English as well as knowledge of at least one other relevant foreign language.
  • International networking within the subject-specialist community

Additional InformationBenefitsThe minimum remuneration as stated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement is EUR 89.075,00 gross per year.
