Professor and Head of Department – Professorial Level 2

We wish to appoint a Professor who has a research focus in materials engineering, design (preferably inclusive design) or manufacturing engineering.

The position of Head of Department will become available on 1st August 2023 when the School is restructured to create a new Department of Materials, Design and Manufacturing Engineering, and so the intention is that you would become the Head of Department on taking up the professorship or very shortly afterwards.

As Head of Department, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Department. You will work closely with the Dean to provide leadership of the School and be a key member of the School Management Team. You will have an international reputation in engineering research, an excellent research record including publication of influential papers in leading academic journals and attracted substantial levels of external funding from a range of sources. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to lead a diverse team and act as a role model in continually striving for a fairer and more inclusive workplace.
