The Department offers the B.A. in Theatre with concentrations available in applied theatre, design and technology, performance, theatre education, and directing, dramaturgy and dramatic writing. | Essential Duties and Responsibilities | The Shakespeare Chair will teach two (2) courses per academic year in the Theatre Department and one (1) in the English Department. He/she/they will work with other Theatre and Design faculty on Shakespeare campus productions as well as promote Shakespeare and Shakespeare-in-Performance at the University and in the larger Charlotte community. |
| Minimum Experience/Education | UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. |
| Preferred Education, Skills and Experience | The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in Theatre, English or related field and have a record of significant professional activity suitable for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, as well as a proven record of academic and professional leadership. |

| Special Notes to Applicants | The University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications from senior specialists in Shakespeare and performance to fill the endowed tenure-line Robinson Distinguished Professor of Shakespeare Chair in the Department of Theatre with affiliate appointment in the Department of English. The successful candidate will have strong credentials in Shakespeare scholarship with associated expertise in acting, design, directing, dramaturgy, voice, or other production-related specialties suitable for engaging students in the dynamics of performance. The Robinson Professor will be expected to continue to contribute to Shakespeare scholarship, to the Theatre and English Department’s Shakespeare curriculum, and to the University’s theatre season. The ideal candidate will be able to outline a dynamic and relevant research agenda and effectively work with a diverse community, faculty, and student body, particularly in the Theatre Department’s productions. He/she/they will participate in the University’s mission of creating an inclusive and equitable culture. Ph.D., D.Phil., M.F.A. or other relevant terminal degree required.
