Job Summary The Nursing Department in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation, the University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track Clinical Assistant Professor position. The Professional Development Director (formerly called Lead Nurse Planner) has ultimate authority, accountability, and responsibility for the overall ANCC Accredited Provider Unit (PU). The Professional Development Director is ultimately responsible and accountable for the Accredited Provider Unit’s compliance with the American Nurses Credentialing Center Accreditation Program criteria in the provision of nursing continuing professional development educational activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as a liaison between the ANCC Accreditation Program and the Provider Unit.
  • Ensures the Provider Unit implements and adheres to the ANCC Accreditation Program criteria for all operational aspects of providing nursing continuing professional development activities and criteria that pertain to the operations of the organization as a PU.
  • Orients Nurse Planners in the organization with respect to the ANCC Accreditation Program criteria.
  • Serves as a Nursing Continuing Professional Development resource to the Provider Unit and others as needed.
  • Ensures each Nurse Planner is a registered nurse and holds a current, unencumbered nursing license (or international equivalent) and a baccalaureate degree or higher in nursing (or international equivalent).
  • Ensures each Nurse Planner understands the ANCC Accreditation Program criteria and is responsible for appropriately evaluating compliance with those criteria.
  • Keeps all members of the Provider Unit up to date on ANCC Accreditation Program criteria.
  • Monitors the actions of all members of the Accredited Provider Unit in relationship to their adherence to ANCC Accreditation Program criteria.
  • Advocates for resources – human, material, and financial – to ensure the Provider Unit meets its goals related to quality outcome and nursing professional development.
  • Ensures the Provider Unit is in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations that impact the organization’s ability to meet ANCC Accreditation Program criteria and maintain the Provider Unit.
  • Maintains nursing continuing professional development records according to ANCC Accreditation Program criteria.
  • Submits the application for Provider Unit renewal.
  • Assess learners’ needs and plan, implement, and evaluate continuing professional development activities in accordance with ANCC criteria.
  • Use educational design principles to assess gaps, identify learning needs, develop expected outcomes that reflect competence, learning, and change, plan educational activities in accordance with best practice evidence, implement planned educational activities facilitating positive learning and practice environments, and evaluate educational activities using valid, reliable and relevant methods.
  • Develops and produces/manages continuing education programs for faculty in CONHI including nursing, public health, kinesiology, and athletic training.
  • Includes/makes learning activities available to UTA CONHI stakeholders such as alumni, students, preceptors, community partners, etc. when possible.
  • Coordinates and manages programs for our rural health nursing partners to meet their continuing professional development needs including both onsite and community-based programs.
  • Required Qualifications
  • A masters or higher degree in nursing.
  • A current, valid, unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in Texas.
  • Has experience in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing continuing professional development activities.
  • Has knowledge of ANCC Accreditation Program criteria and adult learning principles.
  • Demonstrated commitment to education and service.
  • Preferred Qualifications PhD in Nursing or related field.
