Principal Business Intelligence Engineer – University Information Systems – Georgetown University
Job Overview
The Principal BI Engineer is responsible for the analysis of University-wide information system requirements, development of specifications, programming, and writing system documentation. They provide technical support for analysis, design, implementation and maintenance of enterprise data management applications; and use operational and functional knowledge of all aspects of the application, including all external interactions and internal processes, to develop alternatives to customization of purchased systems where possible, or to design and implement appropriate modifications where required. Their specific responsibilities include application of vendor maintenance, quality control management and oversight of change control processes, and analysis of requirements.
Work Interactions
The Principal BI Engineer is a Team Lead and reports to the Manager of the appropriate application(s), to a Project Manager, or to the Associate Director. They may serve as a member of one or more project teams, with additional reporting line to that project’s manager. Although they have no direct reports, they may be responsible for teaching, coaching, and mentoring other team members.
They are expected to work within and across teams to support the acquisition of new skills and areas of expertise; and to apply proven communication, analytical and problem solving skills in order to produce timely, efficient and high quality deliverables.
