Position Summary: 

Incumbent performs all tasks necessary to obtain necessary authorizations, verify the patient has a source of funding to cover services, and schedule patients for surgery.  Responds to patient inquiries and resolves any identified issues.   The essential functions listed below are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties that may be assigned to this position, not does it restrict the duties which may be assigned to this position if such duties reasonably relate to the position.

Required Qualifications:

 

 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Demonstrated experience using MS Office

Ability to interpret and understand various medical insurance plans and make accurate determinations regarding coverage

General knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codes

Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings

Previous experience with computer registration and registration scheduling system

Must be able to travel to off site physician practices

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Must demonstrate general understanding of medical terminology

Minimum one (1) year recent experience (within past two (2) years) registering patients in a hospital or clinic, working as a Medical Assistant, or working in medical billing

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience with authorization process and surgical scheduling

Bilingual in English and Spanish

Familiarity of Joint Commission standards

Experience with Epic

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
